NOTICE OF PUBLIC MEETING OF THE

ALASKA BOARD OF FISHERIES

Notice is given that the Alaska Board of Fisheries will hold a teleconference on Friday, May 16, 2014, at 9:00am – 11:00am.  The purpose of the teleconference is to consider a petition for an emergency regulation submitted by the Kuskokwim Salmon Working Group requesting the board to amend the Kuskokwim Salmon Management Plan (5 AAC 07.365) to limit subsistence gillnets of 4-inch mesh size to setnets only for king salmon conservation in the Kuskokwim River.

The board will not take oral public testimony during the teleconference.  Listen-only teleconference sites will be provided to the public in Anchorage, Bethel, and Juneau at the following locations:

Juneau ADF&G Office, 1255 W. 8th Street, Caribou Conference Room

Anchorage Legislative Information Office, 716 W 4th Ave Suite 200

Bethel Legislative Information Office, 301 Willow Street

A live audio stream of the meeting is intended to be available on the Board of Fisheries website which can be accessed at:  www.boardoffisheries.adfg.alaska.gov.  Meeting materials will also be posted on this website and will be available through the Department of Fish and Game Boards Support Section.  For information about the meeting or meeting materials, contact the Boards Support Section at (907) 465-4110.

If you are a person with a disability who may need a special accommodation in order to participate, please contact the Boards Support Section at (907) 465-4110 no later than 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, May 14, 2014 to ensure that any necessary accommodations can be provided.

If the Board takes emergency action to repeal the regulation, the repeal will expire 120 days after it becomes effective, pursuant to AS 44.62.260, and the Board will need to take additional regulatory action to make the repeal permanent.  If so, the Board will either provide additional notice of, and opportunity to comment on, further regulatory action to make the repeal permanent, or delegate to the Commissioner further regulatory action to make the repeal permanent.
